Week 21

A better week this week with a more insects showing up, plenty on the Hoverfly side, Noon Fly [Mesembrina meridiana],Hoverfly [Leucozona lucorum], Hoverfly [Syrphus torvus] all showing this week. with Plenty of St Marks Flies about along the hedgerows, and in the nettle patch’s plenty of Nettle Weevils [Phyllobius pomaceus]

On the bird side things seem to have settled down somewhatthe Swallows appear now to brooding eggs with male and female birds swapping roles for nest duty, Blackcap, Wren, Song Thrush, Goldfinch and Chiffchaff  were about this week. Butterflies seem already to me due for another bad year Orange tips were the numerous one this week with a couple of Green veined Whites and a single Peacock seen. No sign of the returning Swifts or House Martins for this week
