Week 36

The mild weather continues giving us another dry week with temps around the 20° mark, so what’s been around this week

Butterflies have been a few Green veined Whites with a single Small White but the best numbers have been Speckled Woods which have been in good numbers with some fresh looking individuals seen.

Hoverflies and bees are still in great numbers with a new species of hoverfly ID this week, this being Leucozona glaucia. These hoverflies are found around woodland edges and rides and this is where I found them, a very busy and beautifully marked hoverfly.

A single dragonfly species seen this week hunting over the field, birds seen or heard have been Great spotted Woodpecker, Common Buzzard, Chiffchaff, Bullfinch, Robin, Wren and a Kestrel hunting the back field
