Week 17

Another good week weather was good, insects were out and a new species found…Swallows still not arrived back

Birds this week started with a new arrival first heard Monday evening and found around the bird table on Tuesday, the Blackcap is back and proclaiming his presence good and strong. Also around the table this week were the Nuthatch’s which can be seen most days and quite approachable, along with Great Tit, Blue Tit, Robin, Dunnock, Jay, Mistle Thrush and Goldcrest in the surronding trees. Other birds about this week were Chiffchaff, Common Buzzard going thru, Pied Wagtail in the car parks, Great Spotted Woodpecker could be seen, heard calling and drumming and a Grey Heron was seen in one of the fields

Butterflies this week Orange tips can now been seen on the wing along with the Peacock, Small Tortoiseshell, and Comma

The find this week was the sight of a new Shield Bug amongst the gorse, which should give it away, it was, in a few numbers and only found on one bush, it was a Piezodorus lituratus or a Gorse Shield Bug a brilliant find and many in pairs enjoying the warm sun

Next week were hoping that the Swallows will have returned
