Week 22

Due to the bad weather this week cold wind and temperatures remaining below the average for this time of year insects were thin on the ground, so the week was over to the birds to keep me entertained,

Around the bird table was where the most activity was happening this week with Nuthatch, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Long tailed Tit, Blackbird, Robin, Dunnock, Jay all putting in an appearance. Into the woods we could hear Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming, Chiffchaff and Blackcaps,. Elsewhere the Swallows have settled in but doesn’t appear to much nest building yet

Insects started showing again at the end of the week with a Merodon equestris Hoverfly, along with Orange tip and Green veined White Butterflies, however only in single numbers.
