Week 24

The weather was good the action however was quiet,  insects have been hard to find this week and if it wasn’t for the bird table it would have been even quieter.

So around the bird table area this week we’ve had Robins, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Dunnock, Nuthatch, Blackbird, Blackcap and Goldcrest. Out in the woods Chiffchaff, Blackcap,  Great Spotted Woodpecker, and Chaffinch.

Butterflies this week have been only Orange tip sightings, Moths have been represented by Silver ground Carpet and Yellow Barred Longhorn Moth.

Other things of note are Scorpion Flies, (that can be found mainly on fence posts) and a Tipula maxima Crane Fly, (a very distinctive fly due to the wing pattern and this is also the largest UK crane fly, hence the name)
