Week 27

Most of the activity this week has been based around the bird feeding area with young Robins, Blue Tit and Great Tit taking advantage of the hand outs, also around the table as been Goldcrest, Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Nuthatch, Bullfinch, Woodpigeon, and Crow with Goldcrest and Bullfinch calling from the tree canopy.

Out in the woods Chiffchaff and Blackcap can still be heard, we’ve also had Swifts and House Martins again this week zipping around the tree tops picking of various insects. Swallows have been about with four birds seen around the nesting site but the nesting this year doesn’t seem to have happened…yet.

A walk up to the pond this week produced nothing, no Damselflies or Dragonflies to be seen. Five species of Butterfly ID this week with good numbers of Meadow Brown and Ringlets, smaller numbers of Large Skippers, One Red Admiral and Comma both stopping very briefly and too quick for the camera, there has also been various “White Sp” which haven’t been ID
