Definitely a mixed week with two days given up to rain but the other two made up for it. Tuesday belonged to the Butterflies with three species seen this week good numbers of Speckled Wood still about, we also had a Large White fly thru and a second Red Admiral stopped off and once again at a distance. A 3rd instar Common Green Shield Bug was found amongst the Blackberry bramble.
Thursday only the Speckled Wood butterflies were on the wing, but a star find this week was a new Shield Bug the Spiked Shield Bug taking the site tally now to 7
Birds this week included lots of Jays, we had Common Buzzards on the tuesday fly thru, a flock of House Martins went thru late on Wednesday which was a lovely surprise. Around the bird table Nuthatch, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Coal Tit, Nuthatch, Robin, Chaffinch and Dunnock, Bullfinch was heard on many occasions around the site but not seen.
