Week 18

Now things are starting to warm up a bit things once again have started to come alive and more summer bird migrants arrive, a better week this week after week 17 were things seemed to go back to hibernation.

We have had migrants thru this week House Martins and Swifts, seen mid-week on the day of drizzle which gave us the advantage of seeing these birds passing thru. Blackcap and Chiffchaff remain on site and have been active all week, as have the Swallows. Other birds on site this week Pied and Grey wagtails, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Nuthatch, Song Thrush, Coal Tit, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Pheasant, Mallard (5 young seen this week),  Common Buzzard, Kestrel, Chaffinch, Jay and new for the year Goldcrest.

Insects at last have started to show mainly the butterflies this week, as they come out of hibernation once again Speckled Wood, Orange-tip, Peacock and Small Tortoiseshell have all been on site this week, good numbers of Orange-tip are now showing well
