Week 26

Another week of below average temps for this time of year with half the week going over to rain, Monday and Thursday being manageable but very overcast, dull with the occasional breaks of sun.

However what did turn out was good hoverflies increased towards the end of the week with new species of butterfly making a year appearance.

Butterflies included Large Skippers, Speckled Woods, Meadow Browns and at the end of the week Ringlets were back on the wing.

Hoverflies this week increased in species with Volucella pellucens, Leucozona laternia, Eristalis pertinax, Eristalis tenax, Merodon equestris, Myathropa florea and a nice Chrysotoxum bicinctum being seen

Bird action was mainly around the table with young birds being seen everyday, Thursday saw and influx of Swift, House Martins and Swallows over the top car park again. Chiffchaff and Blackcap still continue to call in the wooded areas
