Week 27

Not a great week for weather with most dinner breaks being overcast and species being down.

Tuesday was a good day for Ringlet butterflies with numbers being 30+, along with smaller numbers of Meadow Brown, Speckled Woods and Large Skipper a Small Skipper was of note this week but was too quick to enjoy.

Of note at the end of the week was a couple of Large Red Damselflies around the field and wooded edges

My favourite Longhorn Beetles were found at the end of the week these being Rutpela maculata or Spotted Longhorn Beetle, these beetles enjoy the white umbelliferous flowers at this time of year and can be easily found as they are of a good size. Another find this week was another Longhorn Beetle but this is a lot smaller than the Spotted Longhorn and difficult to see being only 3-7mm long these were Grammoptera ruficornis and again enjoy the umbelliferous flowers at this time of year and can be found along side the Spotted Longhorns

Birds this week have included Swifts over, Swallows are quiet this week but still seen around the site, the woods still included Blackcap and Chiffchaff.

Around the bird table can be found young and moulting Adult birds
