Week 30

A quiet week what can be said insect life is I believe well down this year compared to previous years, Hoverfly, Moths and Butterflies all taking a dip

Lets start with birds this week Common Buzzard have been seen this week, Swift”s have started moving thru on their return migration this week, the Swallows have also taken a disappointing turn for the worse with what I think could have been a failed first brood, we may just have time to see a second, fingers crossed and all is quiet in the woods.

Butterfly this weeks has resulted in seeing the “Whites” take flight but many seen have all been fly thru ones that did settle were at a distance, Gatekeepers sound be plenty but only 1 was seen, Large and Small Skippers are still about and low numbers of Meadow Browns and Ringlets has their season comes to an end, no reds seen to date, Small Tortoiseshell, Red Admirals or Commas all absent. Moths this week resulted in 1 Riband Wave on the “Moth Wall”

Other wildlife of note was a Fox in the adjoining field
